Rockets working on potential buyout of Ty Lawson's contract

- The Houston Rockets are discussing a buyout of guard Ty Lawson’s contract with his agent Happy Walters, who confirmed the talks are taking place in a text message to FOX 26 Sports.

“Yes, we have discussed a few things and we are exploring, but definitely not for sure,” Walters wrote in his text message.

At the moment Lawson is owed the balance of what is left on his contract for the 2015-16 season.

His contract for this season is for $12,404,495..

The last year of Lawson’s contract is not guaranteed.

This season Lawson has played in 51 games, starting 12, and is averaging 6 points and 3.5 assists.     

Meanwhile, the agent for guard/forward Marcus Thornton, Tony Dutt, told FOX 26 Sports in a text message he will meet with the Rockets on Friday to discuss the options for his client.

Thornton has yet to play for the team since his trade to the Detroit Pistons was rescinded.
