Oakland A's catcher pleads not guilty to charges following arrest in Scottsdale

A Major League Baseball player pleaded not guilty in court this morning after he was indicted by a grand jury on charges of assault and disorderly conduct.

Oakland A's catcher Bruce Maxwell is accused of pulling a gun on a Postmate's delivery driver as she was delivering a meal to his Scottsdale condo.

Court records also show that the 26-year-old catcher may have been intoxicated and that he made anti-police statements to the arresting officers.

In an earlier court appearance, Maxwell denied brandishing a weapon.

Maxwell made headlines near the end of the baseball season when he became the first MLB player to take a knee during the playing of the national anthem. Maxwell also says he was denied service at an Alabama restaurant by a pro-Donald Trump waiter, who disagreed with his kneeling, however, those claims have been called into question.

The Oakland A's have said the team is disappointed to learn about the allegations, and they have been waiting for more information.

Maxwell has not been disciplined for his arrest by the MLB or the team.
