Houston Astros trade pitcher Neshek to Philadephia Phillies

HOUSTON (FOX 26) - The Houston Astros traded right-handed pitcher Pat Neshek to the Philadelphia Phillies for a player to be named later, Astros general manager Jeff Luhnow announced on Friday.
Neshek, 36, made 126 appearances out of the Astros bullpen over the last two seasons, posting a 5-8 record with a 3.36 ERA (38ER/101.2IP) and 94 strikeouts. He initially signed a two-year deal with the Astros on Dec. 12, 2014 that included a club option for the 2017 season.
"To see what we did with good team chemistry in '15 and make the playoffs and getting the Wild Card, that was one of the coolest things ever," said Neshek in an interview with FOX 26 Sports. "I think a lot of us thought it might take a couple years to win there. I'm going to miss all the guys in the bullpen. It's going to be sad leaving those guys. We had such a good team chemistry. That's one of the things I'll remember the most. It's sad we can't keep that all together, but that's the life of baseball."
"It's welcomed," said Neshek regarding the trade. "I think that was the problem. We had too much depth. I could have done a lot more. It's nice for me. I'll be able to pitch a lot more. I think the Phillies are looking at me for late innings. I'm excited."
