The Astros picked up the club option on the contract of catcher/DH Evan Gattis.

His option for 2017 is worth $5.2 million.

“I’m excited to be back, and ready to try to get to the postseason again this year,” Gattis said in an interview with FOX 26 Sports.

“It’s a familiar system. I’m just excited. I'm glad they picked up the option. Just want to help them win.”

Gattis, who split time in 2016 at catcher (55 games) and designated hitter (79 games), hit a career-high 32 home runs, along with driving in 72 runs and hitting .251.

Gattis led the Astros in home runs in 2016.
