Rockets attempting to trade Dwight Howard

- NBA sources confirmed for FOX 26 Sports that the Houston Rockets are contacting teams in an effort to trade Dwight Howard.

Sources also told FOX 26 the Rockets are in the beginning stages of the process.

Yahoo Sports, which first reported the Rockets' efforts to trade Howard, said he is planning to exercise the opt-out clause in his contract which would allow him to become an unrestricted free agent.

After leaving the Los Angeles Lakers as a free agent in 2013, Howard signed a four-year contract with the Rockets worth $88 million.

The contract included a player option for the 2016-17 season, allowing Howard to opt-out and leave following the 2015-16 season.

Howard is third in the NBA in rebounding, averaging 12 per game.

Howard is also averaging 14.6 points, 1.5 blocks and 1.5 assists.
