Texans beat Jags, clinch playoff spot

The Texans took matters into their own hands on Sunday afternoon, defeating the Jaguars 30-6. In doing so, Houston clinched the AFC South title and also a spot in this year’s NFL playoffs.

This will mark the Texans’ third trip to the playoffs in their brief franchise history. They last made the postseason in 2012 and before that, in 2011. Even if the Texans had lost, chances were slim that they would miss the playoffs. In winning, however, no chances were taken and the playoff berth was clinched.

Houston never trailed against the Jags on Sunday, leading 20-3 at the half. This game marked the successful return of Brian Hoyer after missing two games with a concussion. The Texans did lose left tackle Duane Brown to a knee injury in the first half.
