Monroe, Blacklock the latest football All-Americans

- North Shore's Eric Monroe and Elkins' Ross Blacklock were named All-Americans on Wednesday.

These presentations have been plentiful for the Houston area this year with all the elite football talent in this senior class.

Monroe, a safety who is verbally committed to LSU, was honored by Under Armour with his honorary game jersey.  Monroe is ranked by Rivals.com as the top Houston-area recruit in 2016, ranking 38th nationally among all prospects regardless the position. At one point during the ceremony, Monroe became emotional as he reflected on what this All-American accomlishment meant to him.

"I'm just blessed, man," Monroe said. "A shoutout to my coaches, my teammates, everybody for supporting me. I've dreamed about this since I was little. Just watching tons of people from this game go on to the NFL, college. So I'm just truly blessed, man."

The Under Armour and U.S. Army All-American games are widely viewed as the two most elite national high school football showcases. Like Under Armour, the U.S. Army is on a tour making their presentations.  On Wednesday, their tour took them to Elkins High School and defensive tackle Ross Blacklock. Like Monroe, Blacklock had an emotional moment during the presentation after he had received his U.S. Army All-American jersey as he sat beside his proud parents.

"All of it just came at me at once," Blacklock said. "All the emotions just hit me. I'm very blessed.

"I can't even explain it," he added. "It's a great feeling, just the emotions. I never thought I could see myself here, my senior year, being selected as U.S. Army All-American. It's just a great feeling."

Blacklock told FOX 26 Sports Director Mark Berman on Tuesday that he is currently considering Texas A&M, TCU, Texas Tech, LSU, and Houston. The senior defensive tackle said his decision will likely come around January.

The U.S. Army All-American Bowl is played in San Antonio, with the 2016 game being on January 9.  The Under Armour All-American Game is played on January 2 in Orlando.
