HOUSTON (FOX 26) - Terrence Jones is optimistic that he'll play for the Rockets in Tuesday's preseason opener.
Jones started missing practice on Thursday because of a rib injury. He said Saturday that injury happened during practice.
"We've been going hard," Jones said. "Everybody here has been fightin'. We've got the same goals to go farther than what we did last year, so there's been a lot of physical play in practice. I got a little bruise. It was alright for the intensity of the practice. I'll take that any day."
Injuries kept Jones out the majority of last season. He was able to play in only 33 games. He's confident, though, that this latest injury is minor, saying he expects to play Tuesday when the Rockets open their preseason schedule at Memphis.
On Saturday, Jones didn't practice with the team, but he did start going through shooting drills.
"I got stand-stills (shots) yesterday, but today was real shooting," Jones said. "It's going to be alright.
"It felt good," he added. "I'm probably practicing tomorrow just to get that rhythm before I get back out there. It felt good."
