Shark eats tank mate in Seoul Aquarium

Seoul’s COEX aquarium said its biggest shark, an eight-year-old female sand tiger shark, ate a smaller five-year-old male shark earlier this month. The incident was caught on camera. The tiger shark was filmed swimming with the tail of her former tank-mate hanging out of her mouth. The video, shared by YTN News, was described as an “exclusive.” We have reached out to COEX for more information.

“Sharks have their own territory. However, sometimes when they bump against each other, they bite out of astonishment,” COEX aquarium PR manager Oh Tae-youp told Reuters. “I think the shark swallowed the whole body, because they usually eat it all when they bite the head part.”
