Wrong-way driver charged with DWI after narrowly missing other cars on North Freeway

Investigators say a woman arrested for D.W.I after police say she was driving the wrong way on the North Freeway overnight.

Police say that after 1 a.m., a female driver entered the freeway at Crosstimbers, going the wrong direction, going northbound in the southbound lanes. She was in the left lane and several cars were swerving to avoid hitting her.  Thankfully, she was not driving too fast, and officers were finally able to close off the freeway at West Road, stop her about 8 miles from that point at Aldine Bender.  When she arrived there, she was given a sobriety test and taken into custody. Luckily no one was hurt.
