World's Championship Bar-B-Que Contest kicks off

HOUSTON (FOX 26) - The gates have opened at NRG Park for one of the most anticipated events of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo season.

It's all about the taste of the chicken and the ribs at the World's Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest. More than 200 teams from all over will go head to head on the grill for the best cook. Last year the contest attracted more than 250,000 people.

The competition is so stiff that teams like the Confederated Cooks are competing among themselves for the best recipe to enter in the big competition.

The barbecue contest runs through 11 p.m. Saturday.
