World Series Astros shirts printed in Houston

"The demand is high, I've had a lot of friends tell me they are going to the stores and there are no shirts", says Todd Longnecker, the operations manager for Trademarks Promotional Products.

Longnecker has worked for the company for almost 30 years and has printed designs for lots of different championships. Including when the Rockets dominated the NBA in 1994 and 1995.

The shop has seven automatic presses, which on any normal day produce anywhere from 5 to 15,000 t-shirts. However, post season baseball, the Astros winning the American League and making it to the World Series mean the workers keep pretty busy. Some working round the clock and then some to make sure the consumers have the products they desire in store.

"For contracts like this you're usually doing about 30,000 to 50,000 but you're doing that in a period of maybe 16 to 18 hours, that's what's so rough, you have to keep the presses going and running all night long because they are coming to pick the shirts up in the morning and everybody wants those shirts in the stores for sales", says Longnecker.

So for baseball, 47 Brand creates the designs, contacts the company and the workers get to printing. Extra employees are brought in to help and the shirts and boxed up and sent to stores every few hours.

Longnecker says he and many others at Trademarks are proud to be one of the only local companies to make the shirts that will be worn by thousands. "We are very proud of our Houston heroes, the Astros. We want them to win, we want to get some sleep before they win", he says while laughing.

If the Astros get a lead during the World Series, the company employees will be waiting in house, to start printing once again.
