Woman, her child forced to jump from burning apartment unit

A woman and her four-year-old daughter suffered minor injuries after they were forced to jump from a second floor apartment unit in north Houston.

The woman's mother and a six-year-old child were able to escape from the burning home safely while another man who lived in the home suffered cuts to his arm.

Audrey Richardson, the resident who jumped from the unit with her daughter, says the apartment complex on West Gulf Bank Road near Veterans Memorial Drive has been without electricity for at least two days.

A property manager for the Coppertree Village apartment complex told FOX 26 News that the electricity outage was repaired on Saturday but that the transformer "blew out" at 10 p.m. Sunday. She explained that CenterPoint Energy representatives said they had nothing to do with the outage, an electrician was inspecting the transformer on the property and the displaced residents will be transferred to other units in the complex.
