HOUSTON (FOX 26) - Houston police are investigating after a woman shot and killed her father at the Peninsula Park Apartments on West Fuqua Street just before noon on Tuesday.
Homicide detectives say it started when a 50-year-old man in a drug-induced rage began attacking his daughter and granddaughter.
Police say the daughter, age 25, then shot and killed her father.
The woman has not been charged in the killing. Investigators consulted with the District Attorney’s Office, and a decision was made to refer the case to a grand jury.
So far there is no word on the father’s manner of attack or what drugs he was on.
Police say he was dead at the apartment when they arrived.
We talked to a neighbor who was trying to get to his family’s new year dinner only to be blocked from the apartment home by crime scene tape today.
“It’s kind of crazy because when I lived here before, we never had this kind of problem, and I think this is the second one now in probably the last six months,” said Lamont Vaz who encountered crime scene tape when trying to get to his mother’s home for their new year dinner. “I’m trying to understand or trying to make some sense out of it. It’s kind of hard to believe—especially for the new year.”
Police are not releasing the shooter’s name at this point. So far the Harris County Medical Examiner’s Office has not released the father’s identity.
