Wish granted: 8-year-old boy walks in runway show at Mall of America

The Make-A-Wish Foundation and Macy’s teamed up to make eight-year-old Aaron’s wish come true.

On Friday, Macy’s at Mall of America held a special event for Aaron to get ready for his ultimate wish.

Aaron has Duchenne muscular dystrophy and has a strong passion for fashion.

Duchenne muscular dystrophy is an inherited disorder of progressive muscular weakness, typically in boys. DMD is rare and can’t be cured, but treatment may help.

His dream is to become a model. Aaron spent Friday morning with Macy’s senior special productions manager, Paul Anthony and other professional male models learning the tips and tricks of modeling.

Aaron was able to walk down the runway for a crowd at Macy’s and then he got to autograph his model headshots for the audience.

His ultimate wish is to go to modeling training in Los Angeles, where he believes the training will give his confidence to stay strong through his treatment.

Aaron’s wish was a part of the celebration of the eighth annual National Believe Day, which encourages “Believers” of all ages to bring their letters to Santa to their local Macy’s store or online at macys.com/believe.
