Winter weather moves into Houston

You know it’s cold outside when you’re at George Bush Intercontinental Airport and the monitors say “weather”, instead of on time or delayed.

Sunday morning a cold front came into Houston, changing the temperatures from  78 degrees the day before to about 40 degrees less.

"That's Houston weather so that's to be expected, that's the way the Gulf Coast weather is, it changes every minute", says Daniel Shuffler who works at C & D Hardware in The Heights.

The shop has been stocking up on space heaters, getting ready for an increase in sales. The mini machines range from $20-60 dollars a piece. If you do plan on using one, remember to keep it at least 3 feet away from anything flammable and to not plug it into a extension cord.

Alan Kellogg says you also want to remember to, "cover your plants make sure that they don't get hurt with frost bite, pipes, you want to protect your pipes in case so they don't freeze, they don't bust and your pets, you want to keep them inside for a while because 32 degrees is pretty cold for a pet".
