Vigil held for woman found shot to death in car in northwest Harris County

HOUSTON (FOX 26) - A vigil was held Wednesday night for a woman found shot to death in a car in Northwest Harris County.

Family members said they believe this was a robbery because Jacinta Martin’s iPhone, iPad, and purse were taken.

Police have said that it appears the shots were fired from inside the car. No witnesses have come forward yet.

“We have no information.  I'm asking anyone -- if you know anything, please contact someone: me, my daughters, anyone…” said Lynda Martin, the victim's mother.

“Please just tell us what you know because we need to seek justice. She's leaving behind two children who need their mama, a boy and a girl, and she has a fiancé, and she had a bright life ahead of her,” said Maya Welch, the victim’s cousin.

Martin was found on Tuesday, around 12:30 p.m., shot to death in a car in Green Oak Park. Police said there appeared to be multiple gunshot wounds.

Dozens showed up at a vigil to remember Jacinta.

The 31-year-old mother of two young children was on the verge of several turning points in her life -- in the next few weeks, her family said she was about to graduate as valedictorian at Remington College, that she was about to celebrate her birthday, and that she was supposed to get married to the love of her life.

“I just want to say I love her. She'll truly be missed,” said George Lopez, Martin’s fiancé.
