UH investigating possible kidnapping of student

On Friday, April 8, 2016, at approximately 12:20pm, a UH student discovered a note on the water fountain in the Student Center South allegedly from an Amanda Smith claiming to have been kidnapped and her life threatened.

The note indicates a description of the alleged suspect as follows: 5’3” tall, red and white shirt, blue jean pants, red hat, driving a green truck.

There is no further information on the note or otherwise to determine whether this alleged kidnapping involves a UH student, faculty, staff, or visitor, or whether any crime occurred on campus. Out of an abundance of caution, the University is issuing this security alert.

The University of Houston Police Department is actively investigating this case.  If you have any information regarding this case, contact the police department at 713-743-3333.
