HOUSTON (FOX26) - The 37-year-old man accused of setting the Christmas day fire at a southwest Houston mosque made his first court appearance, this morning.
Investigators say Gary Moore was caught on two surveillance cameras near the Savoy Mosque when the fire started.
According to them, Moore is a devout Muslim, who has worshipped at the mosque for year and they aren't sure of his motive.
In court today, prosecutors say, they are building their case and that they will ask for a higher bail for the suspect on Monday.
Houston arson and homicide investigators are looking into a fire that killed two people early this morning.
A man in his twenties and a woman were pulled from the burning home in north Houston just after midnight.
The man was dead at the scene, the elderly woman died later in the hospital.
Firefighters say there were no flames showing, only smoke, when they arrived on the scene at Marjorie and Wheatley.
No word on how the fire started
The search is on for three men who broke into an apartment in northwest Houston and shot a young father to death.
This happened just before midnight at a complex on FM 1960 at Champions Forest Drive.
According to the victim's girlfriend, who was inside at the time, the burglars wanted money. They ransacked the apartment and then took the couple's car.
They're driving a 2003 beige Buick LeSabre, with Texas license plate FMD 8907
