Thieves strike Houston Highland Village Apple store in smash-and-grab

Houston police say that thieves targeted Houston's Highland Village Apple store and took off with several thousand dollars worth of merchandise this morning at 4 a.m..

A pickup reportedly smashed through the glass entrance of the store on Westheimer Thursday, according to HPD officials.  The pickup that was used in the crime was left at the scene.

The director of operations at the Highland Village store said the stolen merchandise "is inoperable." Director of Operations, Brian Teichman reported, "After the predawn smash and grab at the Apple store, we are happy to report that the store will be fully operational and open to consumers at noon today."
