Bayou City Buzz - Astroworld Festival

The long-anticipated Astroworld one-day music festival curated by Houston native and rapper Travis Scott has come and gone, and in its awake left tens of thousands of fans in awe of what they witnessed.

Travis transformed the parking lot of NRG Park into an amusement park modeled after the old Houston Six Flags Astroworld which shut down in 2005. The festival was set to bring back the nostalgia and spirit of Astroworld and it did just that.

It’s not every day you get music fans to buy tickets to a festival when they don’t even know who’s performing. Travis sold over 35,000 tickets the night before the lineup was announced. That included acts like Lil Wayne, Post Malone, Young Thug, and, of course, Travis Scott.

While tickets didn’t come cheap -- priced at $150, $350, and $650 -- they did include all of the music, all the rides, and games you could play to win Astroworld merchandise.
