University of Houston Downtown offers free tuition to low-income freshmen
Free college tuition is being offered right here in the city of Houston. With tuition and student debt climbing, many states are offering programs that support students from middle class families who can't afford college.
While there is no such program in Texas, the University of Houston Downtown has a Gator Pledge. It covers tuition and fees for students whose families earn $50,000 or less.
"Getting the pledge really gave me the privelege in my last semester to sit back and think, 'What do I want to do after I graduate?' and I don't think many people get that luxury," says Jerri Jones, a UHD graduate and Gator Pledge recipient.Read the full article
Facebook halts ad targeting after settling $5 million lawsuit
Facebook now overhauls how it targets housing, employment and credit ads after settling a lawsuit.
The social media giant is paying out $5 million over complaints it is targeting technology-allowed advertisers to exclude minorities, women and older workers from offers on housing, employment and credit offers.
