Miley Cyrus in cornrows, Katy Perry dressing like an Egyptian, Bo Derek in her iconic braids, and white people wearing grillz – some would call these different looks and styles adopted by other races from another race without permission as cultural appropriation. It has become a real issue that has been going on for decades, even back when Michael Bolton would remake a black artist song and go to number one. As Little Richard said, “I don't ever get any credit.” Tonight we're talking about cultural appropriation. Is is something that should be taken seriously or is it time to put it to rest?
