Isiah Factor - urban ballet raises awareness through art

- It's a combination of dancers like you've never seen beforefrom the classically trained to those who specialize in hip hop.

They're together not only to entertain, but to raise awareness through their art of dance and music.

"We're doing what's called the urban ballet. It's reflective of what's happening in the communities," said Sherese Campbell, the executive director of City Dance.

Campbell partnered with Sunkist Dance to bring what she calls an "urban ballet" to the stage in Houston.

She says it's a labor of love to not only stimulate the audience but to make them think in their seats and start a conversation about current events going on in the community.

The centerpiece of the show being held beginning December 3 to December 11 at the City Dance studio also has a pleasant surprise for hip hop fans.

The music focuses on rapper Tupac, something Campbell felt strongly about from the inception of the production.
