HOUSTON (FOX 26) - The world was shocked to hear today that one of the biggest names in fashion, Kate Spade, had died in an apparent suicide. She was just 55 years old.
Spade's housekeeper reportedly found her unresponsive in the bedroom of her Park Avenue apartment in New York.
The handbag icon was a former editor at Mademoiselle Magazine before launching her company Kate Spade New York in the early 90s, growing it into a fashion empire. She leaves behind her husband and a 13-year-old daughter.
