A Bexar County high school student was allegedly beaten, burned and choked by her parents for saying "no" to marrying a complete stranger. The Bexar County Sheriff’s Office says a man and his wife were abusing their 16-year-old daughter, possibly because she didn't want to participate in an arranged marriage
The man slated to marry the 16-year-old girl allegedly paid the family $20,000. But before the marriage could be carried out, the teen ran away because, the sheriff says, her parents were abusing her.
The girl and her five brothers are in CPS custody, and her parents were released from jail on bond. They face charges of continuous violence against a family member.
On the Factor to discuss this is Anila Khan, who has a successful and happy arranged marriage, and relationship expert Dr. D Ivan Young.
