Addressing hate crimes against the LGBTQ community

Deadly hate crimes are up in Texas when it comes to members of the LGBTQ community.

In 2017 in Texas, there were seven LGTBQ people who were killed as a result of a hate crime. That was the highest jump in 20 years.

The spike has local law enforcement agencies teaming up with the Montrose Center for National Crime Victims’ Rights Week. Equality Texas and Montrose Center are also a part of the campaign to bring awareness to the hate still out there in our community.

On the Factor to talk about this issue is attorney Fran Watson.
