3 bar employees charged in deadly drunk driving crash

A bartender charged in connection with a drunk driving crash that killed a mother and baby was in court today.

Amy Allen, 40, is charged with criminal negligence for serving an underage driver.  She was released on a $500 bond. Devin Jackson, 24, the son of the bar's owner, is charged with knowingly buying drinks for a minor. John Medina, 23, is also charged with providing alcohol to a minor.

Veronica Rivas, 20, is charged with vehicular manslaughter in the crash that killed Shayla Joseph and her 3-month-old son Braylan.

Court records show Rivas' blood alcohol level was reportedly twice the legal limit and she also had cocaine in her system at the time of the crash.

It must be a scary thought to a bar, nightclub or restaurant owner – one of your employees over-serving a patron, then that customer goes out and kills someone in a drunk driving crash. On the Factor, we discuss that idea with two bar owners Rob Wright of Prospect Park and Jatin Patel at King's Court.
