Texans owner quoted to retract apology

Back in the fall Texans Owner Bob McNair allegedly made a statement in a private meeting saying:

"We can’t have the inmates running the prison"

According to sources this was in reference to players kneeling during the national anthem. Shortly after McNair issued a statement apologizing for what he said. However a recent story in the Wall Street Journal, McNair is quoted saying he regrets that he apologized and that he was referring to NFL executives, not the players.

Louis La Fontaine says, “I’m surprise he would say that though publicly it seems like a bad luck but I guess he says what he wants”.

“I just feel like he should own up to his words and be respectful to not only the city but his players you know imagine how his players feel”, says Darrell Bolden.

Harris County Commissioner Rodney Ellis has issued a statement on this:

"No matter Mr. McNair's intent, his poor choice of words last year comparing players to prison inmates were hurtful and the apology Mr. McNair issued shortly after the incident was E a welcome, positive step forward. Mr. McNair's most recent comment is a disheartening and polarizing step back at a time when we should all be working together. This week, we as a nation reflected on the 50th anniversary of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s assassination, whose life was taken in the struggle for racial equality. That fight is far from over."

Houstonian's and Texans fans have been vocing their opinions about this too.

“I think you should probably just shut up I think his best bet is to just be quiet and go away and everybody will forget about it”, sasy Josh Verkerk.

Marcelino Saldierna says, "I would think that he would treat his people a little bit better because it’s not right the way he is talking to them and what he saying”.
