The Harris County Medical Examiner's office says an autopsy has been performed on skeletal remains believed  to be of  Jessica Cain. The results are still pending.

Cain was on her way home to Galveston when she disappeared in 1997, she was 17 years old at the time.

Investigators found the remains last week while searching a field on East Orem between Mykawa and MLK.

They had help from the man they've identified as a person of interest in this case, William Reese; he's been at the site showing crews where to dig.
