Taking older drivers off the road

- Taking older drivers off the road can lead to an increased risk of depression according to a new study from Columbia University. The study shows giving up the car keys was linked to an almost doubled risk of depression. Researchers say the connection might be partly due to the social isolation or lack of independence that can happen when elderly people can no longer drive.

The analysis showed former drivers were 91% more likely to have depressive symptoms than their peers who remained on the road.
