Suspect surrenders after barricading himself in Houston apartment

A standoff at a northwest Houston apartment ended after the barricaded suspect surrendered.

Police were called to the Falls of Antoine Apartments in the 6100 block of Antoine Drive around 12:30 p.m. According to police, officers arrived on scene and learned that a male and two females had been engaged in a disturbance inside.  One of the women was the suspect’s girlfriend. The man and his girlfriend got into an argument.

Police say the suspect pulled a gun and threatened one of the women and threw her out. The suspect barricaded himself in the apartment with the other woman. Officers tried to make contact with the suspect and attempted to get the man to come out. They even called K9 to see if the barking of a dog would get him to open the door.

Officers then called SWAT and within minutes of SWAT arriving, the suspect gave up. Everyone came out of the apartment and no one was hurt.

The suspect was taken into custody before 3:30 p.m. He may face charges for aggravated assault.
