Suspect in custody in carjacking of woman and 6-year-old son

HOUSTON (FOX 26) - Harris County Sheriff's Department and Precinct 4  have taken into custody a suspect they believe to be involved in the carjacking of a woman along with her 6-year old child. They also recovered the woman's car.

It happened around 4:40 p.m. on 17070 Red Oak at FM 1960 in North Harris County.

According to the victim, she was coming out of the doctor's office when a male walked up  and shoved a gun in face. The suspect told her to get out of car.

She says she  struggled with the carjacker long enough to give her son time to get out of the car.

When the gunman got into car, he started it and  backed out and almost running over her son.

The woman and her son are being transported to an area hospital to be checked out.

The suspect remains on the run.
