HOUSTON (FOX 26) - Nadonte Pugh, 19, who was charged with capital murder in the March 12 shooting of a store clerk in northwest Houston, has been arrested by police in Midland. He is awaiting extradition to Houston.
Zia Siddiqui owned the Raceway convenience store on FM 1960 and was shot to death in a botched robbery on March 12. Houston police identified Pugh as the suspect on March 15. Siddiqui, 51, was going to be a grandfather soon.
Police say the suspect went into the convenience store, pulled out a gun, pointed the weapon at an employee and demanded money. The employee ran back to Siddiqui's office but the suspect was able to force his way into the room and shot the store owner.
Police say evidence indicates that Siddiqui did shoot back at the suspect.
Relatives of Siddiqui said that more than 500 people attended his funeral and that his eldest daughter, who is due to give birth soon, has been very depressed.
