Supply drive held for Willowridge High School teachers

- "This is our opportunity from the community to show the students that we support them, not only the students but also the teachers", says Houston city councilman Larry Green.

A teachers supply drive was held the same night Willowridge High School's incoming 9th graders met for a pep rally. Many have lost their classroom items and decorations because of mold.

"I could not be more proud of our teachers and our staff, they have taken this in stride and they have just continued to work on for the betterment of or students and I'm just exceptionally proud to be the building principal for this fine group of individuals", says building principal Thomas Graham Jr.

Folks stopped by and brought by everything from books to pens and even cleaning supplies.

Kia Douglas, a fellow teacher and Willowridge graduate, collected donations with her fellow friends and coworkers in Alief ISD. "We pulled together and got the resources that we needed to at least give them something to start off with", says Douglas.

Councilman Green says he wants to give the teachers as much as he can to help them out before school starts.

"The community outpouring of community support has been great and we just want them to know that we have their back and we support them through this though time", says councilman Green.
