Stolen ambulance leads Michigan officers on chase

A stolen ambulance led police on a wild chase in Michigan.

On Saturday, Macomb County deputies responded to a local hospital where an ambulance was reportedly stolen. MedStar workers had entered the hospital to drop off a patient, leaving the ambulance parked outside, according to the agency’s Facebook post.  A 21-year-old male, who was not a patient, drove off in the ambulance.

The Macomb County Sheriff’s office shared dashcam video of the chase showing a cruiser pull in front of the ambulance to stop him, but instead the driver took the ambulance down a grassy hill and drove back up onto the road. Finally, the driver crashed into an embankment, and was arrested.

The Facebook post of the video didn’t include the driver’s name, but he was charged with unlawful driving away of an automobile.
