Son charged with murder in the stabbing death of mom

A 22-year old man has been charged with murder in the stabbing death of his mom in Southwest Harris County. He reportedly got into an argument with his mom at their townhome on Garden Grove.  During the fight, the mom was on the phone with her mom, the son's grandmother.  The son suddenly started stabbing his mother multiple times and the grandmother heard the disturbance.  The grandmother then called 911.

When Harris County Precinct 5 deputy constables arrived, a neighbor then informed them that the suspect had forced his way into his home and was hiding inside.  He reportedly had broken into that neighbor's home and hid in the room.  The son was then taken into custody and his mother died on the scene.  According to the family's pastor, the son had been having spiritual visions and was reading the Bible obsessively and considering entering the ministry.

The Alief Independent School District released the following statement on Friday morning:

"She was on the phone with her daughter and she screamed, 'He stabbing me,' so we know basically what happened but we don't know the reason now," says Pastor Gregg Patrick "There's no question this fine young man had a problem and something initiated that problem that he snapped."
