Slow-speed chase ends on North Freeway

Various law enforcement agencies worked together during a slow-speed vehicle chase that started in north Harris County and extended into the Conroe area. The chase had caused the closures of all North Freeway mainlanes near the FM 1488 exit after 10 a.m. Friday.

Law enforcement officers began to pursue the driver in the white truck on the freeway near the Cypresswood Drive exit. That driver had claimed that he wanted to kill himself at his home in an apartment complex on Cypress Station Drive near Cypress Trace Road. He was carrying a firearm.

The chase ended when all four tires on the truck had deflated. After the driver stayed in the truck for a long while, he finally stepped out of the vehicle, lay on the ground and surrendered to law enforcement officers.
