Several units at northwest Harris County storage company burglarized

“I can’t believe it,” said Jennifer Rivera. “It’s really disappointing that something like this would happen.”

Two months ago Rivera and her three small children moved to Houston.

“We moved here from Phoenix Arizona just to start a new life with our family,” Rivera said.

Rivera has a unit here at Great Value Storage  at 14318 Highway  249.

She went to her unit on Monday she says to retrieve some Halloween stuff for her kids.

“Was very surprised when I walked in and noticed all the lights to our storage had been cut off and broken and a lot of the doors were open including ours,” said Rivera.

Rivera says she noticed a lot of things were out in the hallway including family photos.

“My husband’s shoes were on the floor some of the children’s clothes were on the floor,” Rivera said.

What did she do upon seeing this?

“I actually turned right around and got out of there I was scared,” said Rivera. “I called the people in the front I didn’t know if someone was still in there.”

Rivera says the manager told her several units were broken into and the thieves also hit other businesses in the area.

She says the thieves not only stole items worth thousands of dollars she says they destroyed things in her unit and did the same to other units.

“I know we had some family vases that were on one end and they were just shattered in the hallway which is odd to me that someone would go through that trouble to do that,” Rivera said.

The manager we spoke to at Great Value Storage wouldn’t give us any details about the crimes.

He confirmed that break ins had occurred over the weekend and told us someone with the company’s corporate office would be contacting us.

We’ve yet to hear from the corporate office.
