A mother and daughter were worried sick when they realized they’d accidentally left behind their family's savings at a California Applebee’s restaurant.
The total amount? A whopping $32,000 – reportedly saved up from renting out properties and running a restaurant in the Bay Area.
“I think she took it out when she took out her wallet to pay and she didn't put it back in her bag,” Erika Gonzalez later explained.
They soon realized what had happened, and called police. But as it turned out, they needn’t have been so worried.
The man who’d been serving them found the money, and immediately turned it in to police.
What’s more, the server insisted on modestly downplaying his good deed, Carrie Hellyer, the Applebee's area director, told KFSN.
