HOUSTON (FOX 26) — Steven Delatorre is not legally permitted to enter the grounds of The Village School, according to a statement issued by the spokeswoman for the institution.

Harris County Precinct 5 Constable Ted Heap says the reason Delatorre is not allowed on campus is because a coach at the school filed a restraining order against him after receiving threats.

A school security guard recognized Delatorre's vehicle on Tuesday afternoon. It was pretty easy to identify since he had the mobile home he lives in hitched to his sport utillity vehicle.

The security guard apparently blocked Delatorre in with his vehicle.

"When the security guard exited the vehicle, it was moving towards our suspect, the suspect came forward and either struck him or bumped him, we're still trying to get information on that and at that time, the security guard discharged his weapon five or six rounds," said Constable Heap.

There are bullet holes in Delatorre's SUV, but he was not struck by any bullets.

Around four hours after the confrontation, Delatorre surrendered at the Prct. 5 Constable's Office. He rambled to reporters, saying things like his constitutional rights were violated and they were ugly people trying to ruin his family and they needed to be checked out.

Delatorre is now charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

The spokeswoman for The Village School released the following statement on Tuesday afternoon:

This afternoon there was an incident outside The Village School concerning an individual who is not legally permitted to enter school grounds. There was an altercation between the individual and our security guard which resulted in the security guard discharging his weapon after he had been struck by the individual’s vehicle. The individual left the area in his vehicle and the security guard is not seriously injured.

The authorities were alerted immediately and are investigating the situation. All students and staff are safe and well. We will provide updates of further information as and when it is appropriate to do so.
