HOUSTON (FOX 26) - Houston police are conducting a search for 23-year-old Jose Luis Hernandez, who pleaded guilty to murder and was scheduled to be sentenced at a hearing on Thursday. Prosecutors say Hernandez met with his attorney on Tuesday, but did appear in court. Police say he cut off his ankle monitor and has not been seen since.
Hernandez and Frank Marinero were charged in the Dec. 27, 2014 murder of Bryan Blanco at Sharpstown Park on Harbor Drive in southwest Houston. Police say Hernandez lured Blanco to the park using a fake Facebook page and both Hernandez and Marinero confronted Blanco at the park.
Marinero was the shooter in the incident and a jury found him guilty on Aug. 1. He was sentenced to 99 years in prison.
Anyone with information about Jose Luis Hernandez is encouraged to contact the Houston Police Department or Crime Stoppers of Houston by phone at 713-222-8477 (TIPS).
