School district officer charged in child pornography case

An Humble ISD Police Officer Jeffrey Clark has been charged with Possession of Child Pornography.  The charges come after Officer Clark actually went to the Harris County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office looking for a job but he ended up heading to jail instead.

Clark was working as a police officer for Humble ISD and when he went seeking employment at Precinct 4, "During our vetting process and background investigation we were able to determine we had several red flags that went up with this individual,” explains Harris County Precinct 4 Constable Mark Herman.

Something caused Precinct 4 investigators to become so disturbed with Officer Clark they actually secured a search warrant of his Humble home and of the electronic devices he had inside.

"The images we did end up recovering were hundreds of photographs of what we feel to be child pornography,” says Constable Herman.

Clark has worked for Humble ISD since July 2015.  The 48 year old actually works as an Humble ISD night patrol officer and is not assigned to a school.

"There’s nothing that leads us to believe there’s any kids in Humble involved in any way in any of this.  I can tell you that in speaking with the (Humble ISD) chief this particular officer did not have access to kids.  He was on a night shift, an evening shift and had no access to kids what so ever,” Herman explains.

“We just need to be very careful who we have around our children.  We can’t protect them enough,” says one Humble resident.

"It’s crazy.  They’re supposed to be out here protecting and serving and that’s what’s going on.  That’s not right,” adds another resident.

The Humble ISD cop who is now an accused criminal is charged with 10 counts of Possession of Child Pornography.  He’s being held on a $750,000 bond.  Constable Herman won’t say exactly what caused concern during Officer Clark’s interview with Precinct 4.  "The applicants we hire go through rigorous polygraph, psychological tests, interview process, they are asked specific questions.  I can just say during that process some of the answers and information he gave us raised flags".

Possession of child pornography is a third degree felony punishable by 2 to 10 years in prison.  Humble ISD released a statement saying in part that Clark is on administrative leave from the district pending the outcome of the investigation.
