Sandy Springs thanks police with yard signs

Small, black and white signs have popped up all over Sandy Springs as part of an effort to show community support for police.

The campaign started with Alice Wagner and her husband who designed a colorful yard sign that reads "Sandy Springs [loves] Our Police."

"People were doing lunches and different things for the police departments and they drive by our house so frequently," Wagner explained.  "I just wanted to put up a sign to let them know that we appreciated what they did for us and our community."

Leadership with the Sandy Springs Police Department were so touched by the sign that they decided to print some of their own and personally delivered one to the Wagners.  Now, the police department is handing them out to anyone who stops by headquarters.

"Just in the few short days that we've had the signs available, we've had quite a number of requests for the signs," said Chief Deputy Keith Zgonc.

Wagner is thrilled with how her neighbors have responded to the idea.

"[I am] overjoyed that they are getting the recognition that they deserve," she said.
