Red flag warning for City of Houston

- The National Weather Service has issued a fire weather warning (also known as a red flag warning) for Houston until 6 p.m. Tuesday. Strong winds, around 15 mph in velocity, with gusts between 20-to-25 mph, along with low humidity, may cause any fires that form to spread rapidly.

Houston residents are encouraged to be aware of items that could spark fires which means they should properly discard smoking materials, be careful with equipment or tools that can spark fires and be cautious in not allowing vehicles to idle over areas of tall grass.

The Houston Fire Department Prevention & Life Safety Guidebook provides suggestions to help prevent grass fires and wildfires in addition to home fire prevention.
