RECALL: H-E-B and Central Market pistachios recalled

H-E-B has issued a recall on bulk and packaged raw shelled pistachios sold at H-E-B and Central Market Texas stores. The product was recalled due to possible contamination with Salmonella.


The issue was discovered through FDA routine sampling. Salmonella can cause serious and even fatal infections in young children, elderly people, or people with weakened immune systems.

There have been no illnesses reported due to the contamination and all packages have been removed from store shelves. Customers who purchased the products can return them for a full refund.

According to H-E-B, the recall affects product found in prepackaged plastic containers containing raw pistachios with either labels reading Shelled Pistachios or Central Market Shelled Pistachios as well as pistachios found in the bulk section with SunRidge Farms labels reading: Women's Vitality Mix, Pistachio Nuts and Dark Chocolate Pistachios.

Central Market Shelled Pistachios, UPC  198300006, Best by 1/1/2017

SRF Women's Vitality Mix, UPC 2706100000, Purchased on or after 5/15/2016

Pistachio Meats Raw Shelled, UPC 2702890000, Purchased on or after  5/15/2016

Dark Chocolate Pistachios, UPC 2705350000, Purchased on or after  5/15/2016

PPK SRF Women's Vitality Mix, UPC 2869780000, Purchased on or after  5/15/2016
