Prepare for storms and heavy rain this weekend

Friday morning began with a soggy start to the weekend, after a Flash Flood Warning was issued for Southern. Harris, NW Galveston, Brazoria county until 6:45 am. Some Clear Lake neighborhoods were hit with nearly 7 inches of rain on Friday morning. Approximately 2-7 inches of rainfall drenched the area from Brazoria to Harris County. Storms then moved to the north of Houston, near Aldine and Spring.

Drier conditions will move in by lunchtime on Friday. Heavy rain and storms are expected through the weekend across the Houston-area. On late Sunday, expect temperatures to cool off and our next front to begin moving in.

Periods of stormy weather remain in the forecast through the weekend.  Right now, it appears you will see more breaks in the action on Saturday versus Sunday.  Saturday’s showers are more likely during the afternoon and evening hours.  Many of you could remain dry for much of the day Saturday.  By early Sunday morning, our next Fall front approaches.  That front will likely generate a round of heavy rain and strong storms as it pushes through the area.  Skies will clear from west to east late Sunday afternoon behind the front.  Temps will be much cooler when you wake up Monday morning.
