Possible norovirus outbreak at senior living facility

We have learned the city and state are investigating the norovirus at an assisted living facility.

It is located in west houston. The department of aging and disability services along with the city's health department have been at Brookdale Memorial Oaks throughout the day.

They're trying to determine if there is an outbreak of the norovirus. Sources say more than a dozen patients and staff have been sick.

Brookdale Memorial Oaks issued this statement to FOX26 News:

"The health and well-being of our residents is very important to us, so when a few of our residents began feeling unwell, we took immediate steps to contact the appropriate authorities for testing. Until those results are back to us, we’re taking proactive measures within our community, such as asking residents to stay in their apartments, encouraging regular hand washing and advising associates who may feel under the weather to stay at home until spending at least 24 hours symptom free."
