Church and state went toe-to-toe as Houston police officers faced off against local clergy during a community basketball game Saturday afternoon.

The game, which took place at Houston's South Park Baptist Church's gym, was one of several events hosted by 1 Team 1 Fight Ministries in which Houston Police Officer's Union (HPOU) is assisting in providing school supplies to some local students. Organizers say they hope the event shed positive light on law enforcement.

"We're not concerned about race or color," said Calvin Miller, Paster at 1 Team 1 Fight Ministries. "We want to say 'we support you, you support us.' Let's bring us together, get you out of your uniform, and let me cross you over."

The clergy won the game after four full quarters, but students were the real winners. Miller says over 100 backpacks brimming with school supplies were given out to students throughout the event. He credited those donations to the ministry, HPOU, and local businesses.
