Police shoot shoplifting suspect who held non-lethal gun

A Conroe officer is forced to shoot a shoplifting suspect after that male presented a threat toward an employee and shoppers inside a Wal-Mart store. The initial theft incident was reporter at around 11:30 a.m. Monday at the store on State Highway 105 West in the town of Montgomery.

A loss prevention employee tried to stop the shoplifting suspect, but that male held a hand gun, pointed it toward the employee and verbally threatened him. After police observed the threat, one officer fired a gunshot that struck the suspect in the left shoulder.

The shoplifting suspect was taken to Conroe Regional Medical Center where he was treated for his injury and released into Conroe police custody. No one else was hurt in the incident. Police later determined that the weapon used to threaten the employee was either an air gun or BB gun.
